Prohibition & Blues - COMING SOON!!

Where Legacy Sings and the Spirit Never Dies™

Prohibition & Blues isn’t just a place; it’s a revival. This immersive hospitality experience honors the brilliance, resistance and rhythm of Black Legacy through storytelling that stirs the soul and a menu that speaks its truth. More than a speakeasy, this is a cultural reclamation wrapped in velvet, vinyl and vintage glassware.

Step into our world and you’re stepping into history; reimagined. Behind every cocktail is a story untold. Behind every bite is a memory reborn. Inspired by the ingenuity of the Prohibition era and the soul of the Blues, we transform nightlife into a space of healing, joy, education and pride.

Prohibition & Blues exists to reclaim space in an industry that too often erases the very roots it profits from. We’re not here just to pour drinks, we’re here to pass the mic, feed the spirit and remind the world who built the house.

This is hospitality with purpose. This is culture you can taste. This is Prohibition & Blues.

Terms & Conditions

Juke Joint Rules (Est. 1920-something; Black Woman Owned & Operated) 1. Welcome to the Sanctum! By entering this digital juke joint, you acknowledge you’re stepping into a space birthed from Black struggle, creativity and triumph. This ain’t just a website, it’s a continuation of the legacy where Bessie, Duke and Robert Johnson turned pain into power. Act accordingly. 2. No Jim Crow Vibes Hate speech, racism or disrespect gets you banned faster than a racist sheriff at a Mississippi blues club. We built this space for soul, not supremacists. 3. The Music Is Sacred Share stories, art and love for the culture but steal our work and you’ll wish the revenuers were your only problem. Copyright infringement = instant excommunication. 4. Age Limit: Grown Folks’ Business You must be 25+ to enter, just like the backroom jukes where the real blues played. No exceptions, we don’t need no undercover laws shutting us down. 5. The House Don’t Play (Disclaimers) We ain’t liable for: - Your heartbreak (though we got the playlist to fix it). - Lost data (blame the tech gremlins, not us). - Any sudden urges to quit your job and start a blues band (we support it, though). 6. Privacy Like a Vault Your info is safer than a moonshiner’s stash; we don’t sell it, trade it or let the Man peek. Unlike some, we remember what it means to be watched. 7. Changes? We Move in Silence Updates happen like a midnight set change; smooth, necessary and with no warning. Check back or miss out. 8. Disputes? Settle It Like Family Any issues get handled in-house, not in some crooked courthouse. Mediation over whiskey (or sweet tea) is the Black-owned way. Final Note: "They tried to shut us down before. We’re still here." This ain’t just a website; it’s a testament. Now, grab a virtual seat and let the good times roll.

The law said ‘no booze,’ but the music got louder. Black, white, bankers, bootblacks; all elbow-to-elbow at the Sunset, drinking bathtub champagne to Bessie’s blues. They called it crime; we called it, living!

‘Smokey’ Joe, trumpet player & professional rule-breaker

When the world went dry, speakeasies kept music alive. Hidden behind unmarked doors, they were sanctuaries; jazz in the air, bootleg whiskey in your glass, folks of every creed shoulder-to-shoulder. I met my best friend at the Green Door in Chicago, trading stories over paint-peeling gin.

‘Lucky’ Mae Reynolds, 1931 (and still raising a glass in 2025)
